Happy Halloween

10/30/2012 By John Cox

A long time ago I watched “The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” with my daughter as she was growing up.  I have not seen this on TV in a while but I do think it is a great story.

Happy Halloween to all and please be safe.

As I told everyone before, I like Snoopy.  Think of your perfect friend and I am sure that all of these characteristics of your friend will come to mind.

Come down to the Pecan Grove Marina and bring your perfect friend with you.

Today is a sad day to celebrate the life of Andy Griffith.  Every small town has an Andy Griffith and that is what makes small towns so special in the south.  I enjoyed his humor and his acting and just listening to him speak.  We met a while back and enjoyed a few stories with one another.

Come down this weekend to the Croaker Festival in Oriental this weekend for the chance to see a small town like the Mayberry we saw growing up come alive.  I am sure Andy will smile upon us all.
I hope to see you and your family.

Old visitors return to Pecan Grove Marina

06/06/2012 By John Cox

Some old visitors returned to the Pecan Grove Marina the other day.

Mr. and Mrs. Flipper are two bottle-nose dolphins that come to visit each year to the Pecan Grove Marina.  I was quick enough to get my camera out but they did not have time to wave as they were chasing their dinner. They swam in the marina basin for a few hours before leaving.  They are such a great couple to see around the marina.  I hope to see Mr. and Mrs Flipper at the Pecan next year and see you and your family sooner.

Its a great day

03/22/2012 By John Cox

I have always enjoyed Charlie Brown and Snoopy cartoons. This one says relaxation to me. It is a great time to be on the water or just sit on the docks and look out.

It is great weather down here. Hurry up and get to the Pecan Grove Marina.

Best friends

03/21/2012 By John Cox

I am so thankful to have so many friends. I guess everyone knows that I use to be a teacher. Funny thing about me being a teacher was that all my students were taller than me.

I have had the pleasure of watching this young lady grow-up before my eyes while being the dockmaster at the Pecan Grove Marina. Just two more years and she will be in college.

Mac, I am proud of you and you have great parents. Thank you for being a part of our lives.

Please come visit us at the Pecan Grove Marina and be a part of our family too.

PGM Dockmaster

06/18/2011 By John Cox

Our world is a vast laboratory. It is a place where we can observe behavior-our own as well as others’. I am continually amazed how some people can be so relentlessly positive, while others can never see the upside of anything. Why do some individuals greet hardship with hope, while others run from success? Oscar Wilde once said, “It is not enough that I succeed, my friends must also fail.” Oscar was insecure to a serious degree. Too many people in the world believe that burning down someone else’s success will make them look better by comparison. It does not work that way and never will. We must root for everyone to succeed together, for all of us to succeed as we are in this world together. This is part of what makes the Pecan Grove Marina the best.

I hope to see you at the Pecan Grove Marina.
